ORDO continues to make positive contributions by perpetually highlighting human rights violations and the deteriorating security situation affecting the majority of citizens. Specifically ORDO, has renewed sense of commitment and partnership that seeks to build on their individual successes and aims to provide a stronger, better coordinated forum through which Somali women and men can proactively take part in seeking lasting solutions to the political, social and economic problems that have left Somalia one of the worst humanitarian and political crisis in the world.
Fair, accountable government is crucial to ending poverty and promoting human rights in any country. Throughout the world, people’s demands for democracy are growing louder as many have suffered under oppressive regimes and unaccountable leaders. Issues of politics and governance might sound dry, but they are at the heart of building a just society, where people can claim their rights. ORDO is in fore front in working with the Government in helping with basic institutional building capacity and training. ORDO seeks to increase the participation of all in decision-making levels in conflict resolution and peace processes. Our Organization has carried out number of programs aimed at enhancing at good governance and rule of law in Whole Somalia.
ORDO has experience in civic education having carried out various capacity building programs for local authorities. The aim of the civic education was to empower the local authorities in issues related to good governance and the rule of law. ORDO advocates for Democratic self-government means that citizens are actively involved in their own governance; they do not just passively accept the dictums of others or acquiesce to the demands of others. ORDO empowers citizens are to exercise their rights and discharge their responsibilities as members of self-governing communities
